Didsbury Speakers is run by a voluntary committee of members (club officers) elected annually in June by the members. Any member of the club (it doesn't matter how long you have been in the club) can stand for election for any position.

The Club Officers for the 2023-24 year are:

 

(ACTING) PRESIDENT

KAREN LEE TURNER

As President my role is to open and close the meetings, welcome guests, fills in for other roles when vacant/absent, liase with the Area Director on officer training, chair the committee meetings and my favourite part - hand out the prizes .

VPE - VICE-PRESIDENT OF EDUCATION (& WEBMASTER)

KAREN LEE TURNER

I encourage members to book speeches, schedule them on the backend system and support members to progress within Pathways.

As Webmaster I update this website, and try to keep on top of any issues that come up.

VPM - VICE-PRESIDENT MEMBERSHIP

PAM ROWLEY

I’m the person that welcomes new guests during the meeting, sends friendly follow up emails and encourages visitors to come back (and hopefully become a member). Basically I’m the one to talk to about joining.

As Past President I support the incoming new Club Officers in their roles, cover the President role if the current President is absent and generally help out wherever required.

TREASURER

GEOFF HODGE

I manage the cash, sort out the paying of dues, register members with Toastmasters International and complete accounts to return to TI.

VPPR - VICE-PRESIDENT OF PUBLIC RELATIONS

The VPPR’s role is to get the club's profile out into the world by updating the club website, and managing our social media platforms - (facebook, twitter, meetup & more), and if there are extra events planned to promote the club, I do that too.

SAA - SERGEANT AT ARMS

Vacant Position

My role involves welcoming guests and fellow members as they arrive, opening the meeting and, when we are back to physical meetings, also organising all of the equipment.

SECRETARY & MENTOR MASTER

JOHN CHAMPION

As Secretary I take the notes at committee meetings and distribute them to the club officers, and if you would like a mentor to help you start your Toastmaster Pathway then I’m the man to talk to.

I am a mentor myself, and I can connect you with other members who wish to be mentors.

IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT

I am here to ease the transition from last year’s committee, and to help the new President learn the ropes.
